The difference between elasticity and flexibility
I always asked my P3 when we are doing the topic on <<Material>>, "Is being elastic the same as being flexible?" and its endearing seeing the children start their train of thought. After which, I would start hearing a mixture of answers between yes and no.
"Why no?", I would question some of them. Seldom do I hear a satisfactory answer.
It's common that sometimes students mixed up flexibility and elasticity.
Being elastic means being able to be stretched, like a rubber band or a spring while being flexible refers to being able to be bent like a plastic ruler or even a wire.
An object that is flexible may not necessarily be elastic as it may be able to bend but it cannot be stretched.
However an object that is elastic most likely is flexible as well as if can be stretched and be bent.
